Date for your diary:
The KSOB Annual Dinner & AGM is set to be held at the Pond Hotel in Glasgow on Saturday 28th November 2009. Evening starts at 7pm. Cost £25.00.
As a variation on the usual after dinner speaker the club have booked a comedian named Sam Pacelli.
Sam Pacelli learnt from his parents quite directly during his younger years in Brighton which is why he is seemingly half Italian mob boss, half domestic goddess. Sam is just as likely to cook you a nice lasagne as he is to chop off your thumbs…
Sam developed his comedy skills through his training in Commedia Dell’Arte which he has performed and taught in South America and at the University of Kent. Having spent time on the London comedy circuit, Sam graduated with a masters degree in ‘Stand Up Comedy’ and recently reached the final of the ‘Paramount Comedy’s’ Funniest Student 2008. Sam’s cheeky banter and sharpened wit will make a departure from previous Old Boy Dinners and should make it an evening to enjoy.
Sam currently works as a professional comedian with a group called ‘ The Noise Next Door ‘. They are an improvised comedy troupe who have been performing together since 2005. The Noise Next Door will have audiences in stitches with their perfect blend of ludicrous characters, witty one-liners, epic stories and musical mayhem. These five slightly posh blokes are based in Brighton, but are touring venues around the world, with their distinctive brand of off-the-cuff humour including a sell out tour at this years Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Glasgow Warriors vs Ospreys (Kick off 19:00). Old Boys Allan Thomson (95), Scott Thomson (97) and Stephen Lopkin (95) kept up the Keil presence at the Glasgow Warriors games this season.
The Warriors looked set to keep up their winning home game record when they went into half time leading 16 - 6. Sadly the second half did not go our way with the Ospreys closing the game up 26 - 16.
Post match tipple was enjoyed at a local watering hole where the chaps bumped into another Old Boy Scott Allan (79).
The next Glasgow Warriors home game (Heineken cup match) Saturday 10th October (15:45 kick off) vs Biarritz Olympique. Meet in the Aitken Suite 30mins before kick off.

I’ve received a few requests for help through email.
Murdo I. Duncan has contacted us through James Woodrow to ask if anyone has any information on his father, Murdo MacLeod Duncan, who was at Keil before the 2nd World war.
Also the following request from a history student in the USA:
” I am a history student at University in the united States. I am working on a research project on British country houses during the Second World war. I am interested in learning about the experiences of people who lived, worked and were stationed in Britain’s stately homes during the war.
Could you please help me? I am trying to find information on the Keil School’s time at Balinakill House during the war. ”
If you think you might be able to help either of these gentlemen, please drop me a line webchief@keilschoololdboysclub.co.uk, and I’ll put you in touch with them.

With apologies for my tardiness in publishing this:
Old Boys Fishing Outing:
A good days fishing was the outcome of the Old Boys outing to the Lake of Menteith. Six Old Boys
Alastair MacKellar, Dougal White, Laurie Renfrew, Julian Rey, Allan Thomson and Jim Maclean, four
excellent fishermen and two non fishermen met at the Port of Menteith on 24th June 2009. It was a fine
day dry and hazy with very little wind.
Four rainbow trout were caught by the Old Boys totalling 7lb 3oz. Three were netted by Julian Rey and
one by Dougal White.
The Secretary would like to thank in particular Laurie Renfrew and Julian Rey for their patience during
this outing.
Pictures of this trip can be found following this link.

If you are a fan of Dance* music then why not visit Itunes and check out the latest release from KSOB Stephen Lopkin (95).
Available music includes the “Frantic EP” and his most recent offering “Deux EP”.
Enjoy.
*To avoid confusion…. this sort of dance music does not involve a big band ensemble !!
