IAIN WOTHERSPOON: 25.6.1940 - 20.9.2007

Pupil at Keil 1953 - 1958

An Appreciation

Iain and I shared both a hometown of Campbeltown and a birthday of 25th June, although he was two years older than me. As we shared a birthday I never had to say grace at Keil until Iain left. He was very athletic at school being Captain and gaining colours at rugby. He was also a schoolboy intercity player but it was at shot putt that he really excelled. His coach for this at Keil was Jay Scott from near Loch Lomond. After Keil, Iain spent a year at Glasgow High School which gave him a good team to play for at rugby. After school he joined Collins Publishers where he remained for many years. Latterly he ran his Mother’s bookshop in Campbeltown with his sister Efric. Iain contributed articles to the Keil Old Boys Newsletter in recent years. He leaves behind his wife Aline and two daughters Aline and Sheena, and two sisters, Margaret and Efric. Iain was quite inspirational as well as being a friend.
