Collyer McEwan attended Keil between the years of 1973 & 1979.
Collyer attended the Glasgow College of Building & Printing and then
worked for Collins in Bishopbriggs, as a manager between 1983 and 1985.
During hs tenure there he also became Father
of the Chapel.
Collyer left Collins and started work for British Bakeries as a manager
in Inverness around 1986/87. He also worked in the plant at Ayr &
then subsequently here in Glasgow.
Collyer loved the game of rugby. After leaving Keil he played second row
for G.H.K under 21 squad along with former pupils Duncan Campbell, Farrell
Henry and me. As he moved into the senior ranks he had numerous games
for the 1st fifteen there. Archie Burley was another former pupil that
played for G.H.K around that time. As he moved around Scotland he join
Highland in Inverness, Marr in Ayrshire then finally Cambuslang in Glasgow.
His commitment to the game was the measure of the man, he loved playing
and he loved the commaraderie therafter.
Anyone who met Collyer couldn't help notice his kind gentle nature and
his genuine interest in them. His intellect was vast, with a good knowledge
of political and historical issues, he could hold his own in anyones company.
His funeral arrangements will be posted in the Glasgow Herald this week.
He is survived by three children Callum, Racheal and Gavin.
Regards
Paul Woolard
